When I first arrived in Costa Rica, it was raining (surprise). This is the view from in front of Mama Rosa´s house, which I ended up only staying at for one night. A different angle from in front of Rosa´s house This is Rosa´s house on one of the main roads in San Joaquin. Note all the power lines, it´s crazy. On the first day, Hamid drove me to Birri and I met Sharon, her family, and Bob. These are friends of Debra´s. Marianella on the left is my teacher, Hamid is the director, and Elena is the accountant/secretary at the Pura Vida Language Institute This is the Central Park in Heredia The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Inside the church My family: Ana Beatriz, Jimena, and Lestyn Looking north on my street outside my house The south view Outside the language institute. Security is important so it doesn´t look so good from the outside. On Friday at the school we cooked some Tico food for lunch The church at San Joaquin A close up The San Joaquin cemetery Believe it or not, it didn´t rain this day (first day since I arrived that it didn´t rain) One of the nicer houses, however, all the houses are behind gates and many times barbed wire fences (everybody seems to have a robbery story)
